yet again

trail 2: against the world

baron set out over the plains despite an ominous storm looming in the distance. "the gods will protect me," he said aloud and rather arrogantly, "and besides, i need a fresh meal". he was bound for his favorite near-by hunting grounds, the river, where birds let down their guard to drink and bathe. on the way he wondered which foul would be most plentiful this time of day, "what time was it again?" he stopped and looked to the sky once more. large puffy thunderheads enveloped the entire skyscape and were growing darker and angrier by the moment. the storm had ascended much faster than he had planned for, and panic was setting in. baron knew the plains well enough by now to know that shelter is few and far between. "maybe i should turn... around?" he started to wonder when a thick bolt of lightning erupted from the clouds and splintered apart through the sky in a white flash. thunder shook the ground and rung in baron's ears. "to hell with this!" he screaming in reply and turned tail to run back home.
